Drink Up, Issue #002 -- welcome to the UNOB eZine.
December 01, 2006
It’s our round!

Welcome one and all to the December issue of Drink Up, the eZine of the United Nations of Beer. We’re proud and happy to be publishing this, less than three months after our website launched.

Our 2007 Beer Festival Guide, while still very much a work in progress, has gone live. Good news below about it! Read on.

Our first beer and bar reviews have been posted. More will follow. Best of all, everybody reading this could send in a piece of their own and help the site to grow. Plus you could all forward this email to one or two friends.

Our rankings on the search engines continue to improve, which will bring more and more people to the UNOB. Before long, we’ll be the leading place for beer lovers to hang out and exchange information.

So, read on to discover what we’ve been up to and what our plans are for the near future!

Beer Festival guide goes live

After weeks of feverish work, much agonising design wrestling and several sleepless nights, our 2007 Beer Festival Guide is up and running.

Naturally it's far from complete, in many cases because the organisers of each festival have not updated their websites since last year's event (I kid you not!). We'll be fine-tuning it for most of the year in all likelihood.

If YOU can add dates to the guide, please PLEASE do!

And the exciting news? EVERY SINGLE PAGE in the Beer Festivals Guide is number one on MSN/Live! That's a fantastic achievement. It means that anybody looking for Beer Festival info will find the UNOB pages first.

Interested in travelling to a Beer Festival? We'll be adding links to travel agents, offering discounted flights, hotels and car rentals to UNOB members, very soon. Please do support our sponsors if you can.

(Near) Future plans

Among our next projects will be a page recording the greatest gathering of Beer Delegates and UNOB eZine subscribers to date. (Currently it’s two B.D.s and three subscribers. Surely we can do better than that!)

The Canada (Quebec) beer guide will have another bar review added by your Secretary-General, hopefully assisted by B.D. Shannon Wand. In addition, we’re STILL expecting to announce an unprecedented DEPUTY B.D. to assist Shannon...

There’s at least one local Vermont beer review waiting to be written: I know, because I drank it too and I’m going to help write about it! We're planning to visit the Vermont Brewers Festival at Burlington in July, if anybody reading this wants to make a field trip of it?

We’re going to add new beer recipes, beer belly exercises and drinking games to our information pages.

We’ll be expanding our list of recommended gluten-free beers, plus adding a new ORGANIC beer section.

Finally, looking ahead to 2007, we have TWO HUGE PROJECTS in the pipeline. I can’t reveal too much about them yet, but suffice it to say that these will ROCK YOUR WORLD. Make sure you keep checking the UNOB site for updates.

Recommend Drink Up to a friend and spread the word!

Know a friend who likes beer? Please, please, please recommend the UNOB and Drink Up. It’s no exaggeration to say that the bigger the society gets, the better and bigger the benefits to all members will become.

Send them the Drink Up URL by forwarding this link: http://www.united-nations-of-beer.com/loneezine.html

May your froth never go flat!

Ashley Cotter-Cairns Secretary-General, UNOB
