Drink Up, Issue #008 -- Spring finally has sprung!
May 04, 2007
It’s our round!

Dear friends and Delegates,

Thanks for continuing to support the United Nations of Beer. Our site continues to grow rapidly in size and readership.

We just missed out on breaking the 10,000 unique visitor barrier last month (curse that "30 days of April" rule!), but recently added our 250th page of content. And there's plenty more where that came from!

Tell your beer-loving friends about our site. Pretty soon, we'll be wielding enough clout to begin strong-arming brewers into giving you exclusive UNOB discounts.

Come to Vermont for your FREE UNOB Tee!

We're announcing the first ever United Nations of Beer delegation! Anybody and everybody is welcome.

The location is the Vermont Brewers Festival, in Burlington, VT, USA. The festival runs from July 20th-21st, so there's plenty of time for you to plan ahead. Click here to see the website.

As an added incentive, we'll provide EXCLUSIVE VBFest UNOB T-shirts to everybody who joins the Delegation. (Please note that you'll have to inform us at least three weeks in advance to qualify for your T-shirt. Numbers strictly limited, first-come first-served.)

If you're interested, please let us know NOW -- booking your ticket ahead of time will save you $6 each ($25 on the door or $19 for a group booking in advance!).

Can't make it to Vermont? Fear not. Just find a local festival you want to attend, email us the details and we'll arrange a free ticket for you in return for a festival report and pictures.

April's highlights

In case you missed any of our superb articles and reports last month, here's some highlights:

The first person in history to work for the UN and UNOB at the same time, Rudy Lasher, visited Downtown Bar and Grill, NYC and was smart enough to blag a free meal!

Beer Delegate for Queensland, Jane Turner, reveals the depths of despair a life in the outback can plummet to by writing the first ever PREview of a festival. See her article on Biloela Beer Festival, Queensland, Australia here...

Bar 6: "6" is Argentine for "snotty door tart"

Brand new Argentina Beer Delegate Adrian Pipa resists the urge to shove his empty beer glass in the face of the door tart at Bar 6, Buenos Aires

All our latest updates!

In case you haven't figured it out yet, every time we update the site, we list new updates on the right hand side of every UNOB page.

Why not check out the site and catch up with the latest from our talented writers?

Welcome to our new Delegates

It's been a huge month for new Delegates. Bear with me while I catch my breath!

Since our last eZine, we've been busy beefing up various territories. THREE new Delegates have joined our California Beer Guide. Welcome to Shamir Chauhan, Ann O'Connell and Joseph Gelman.

Elsewhere on the site, we've found another Delegate for New Zealand, the mighty Fez Broadbent, who's already added content to our New Zealand beer guide!

Our London beer guide got off to a flying start, with two Delegates, Alastair Hooley and Nathaniel Tapley coming on board.

Then we cracked another province of Canada, with our BC beer guide, Sebastian Lipsett, who might look a BIT like Shaggy out of Scooby Doo, but you didn't hear that from us!

Our wonderful Texas beer guide, so long a lone furrow ploughed by Kate McKeon (steady there boys, no jokes about ploughed furrows) has been boosted by the appointment of Thomas Buchanan.

Last but by no means least, the sassy and spirited Adrian Pipa stakes a claim for the Falkland Islands and Chile during his opening salvo for the Argentina beer guide.

Sorry to all those Delegates-in-waiting who are still yet to be hired. We have at least one Delegate from Michigan and Wisconsin, plus more from CA to bring on board, with more applicants coming in all the time. The advert in California had to be removed because of the demand!

I'll make formal announcements on all these Delegates-in-waiting as soon as there's time to add them to the site. Welcome to you all and thanks for volunteering your services.
