Alchimiste Eisbock

Alchimiste Eisbock: another impressive beer from this QC brewery
Alchemiste Eisbock (9.5% ABV)
Joliete, QC, Canada
I am always impressed by Alchimiste's beers and the Eisbock is no exception.
It pours dark, dark brown, almost black. The head dissipates rapidly. The smell is caramel-sweet and dark, faintly spiced. Mouthfeel is thin and fizzy.
This is a strong, malty beer that's like drinking alcoholic caramel with a mild balancing bitter hop taste just undercutting the sweetness.
It won't appeal to everybody, but this is a good typical Eisbock style beer and is fantastic value, especially as part of a 12-pack selection from Alchimiste; you will pay around $20-24 for this box, featuring three of each of their beers.
Single bottles can be picked up in beer shops like Supermarche Rahman or Metro Joanette for between $2.75-3.60 per single. The case represents a much better deal.
