Asahi Super Dry: you could buy it from vending machines until recently...

Don't be fooled by its name! With exception to Sapporo's Ebisu beer, ASD is one of the smoothest lagers you'll find anywhere in Japan.
Asahi makes a wide variety of beers, along with happo-shu (a kind of low-malt beer, which should be avoided at ALL costs!).
The best-selling beer in the whole nation is ASD. Not only is it an easy beer to quaff, the silver label with black lettering, or silver can with black characters, automatically makes your right hand reach out and grab one!
The cans come in sizes from 135ml (can be secreted ANYWHERE!) to the massive three-litre "even I can't do that down in one" monster.
Meanwhile, if you prefer bottles, they run from the polite, exacting 334ml size to the 1957ml "can be used as a nice vase" glass bottle.
Until very recently, ALL of these options could be bought from vending machines!
