Au Maitre Brasseur Nectar du Diable: punchy
Nectar du Diable (7.5% ABV)
Au Maitre Brasseur, Laval, QC, Canada
A large, punchy beer. At 7.5% ABV it ought to be. But this brew has so much more going for it than alcohol.
It's a Belgian-style blond and big in yeast. This brings it fairly close to the likes of Unibroue's Maudite. But while Maudite crosses the line from sublime to ridiculous, Nectar du Diable stays on the right side of the tracks.
Loaded with citrus and nicely bittersweet, with more sweetness than bitterness in the aftertaste, this is a lovely beer.
AMB have a very decent lineup and are often overlooked for 'edgier' brewers like Diel du Ciel!
This is a top-class Montreal beer and should be on your "to drink" list.
