The Baker Street Pub, Fort Worth, Texas
![]() |
The Baker Street Pub and Grill is named and themed after the street where Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's great detective resided. Walking into the place is like walking onto a Sherlock Holmes movie set.
So, if you are a fan of the great detective or if you just like a place that resembles an old school British pub, this is it. Plus they serve British beers. OK, import versions of Brit beers such as are allowed in the US and perhaps no comparison to real English beer, but at least you can avoid the products of Adolphus Busch if you wish. (If American Brews are your thing they do have all the usual suspects.
I liked the Newcastle Brown Ale, with Bangers and Mash. They have a full kitchen and a long menu (I also tried something called a Scotch Egg), so it is not just about a great selection of beers. There were some American favorites on the menu as well.
And the place is quiet, none of that barely-can-you-hear-your-date-speak due to the incessant, in-store, radio for captive audiences that bedevils most American Fern Bars. You can hear yourself think, you can tell if your date is annoyed, you could dictate a footnote to Dr. Watson.
