How nice to see an amber beer that is neither red, nor super-fizzy, nor totally without a head.
Deep brown-orange colour with a neat fluffy head. Lace endures throughout. Almost a toffee smell, plus fruit and malt.
Wow! This is one special amber ale. Soft mouth feel, creamy even, low carbonation. Sweet, fruit and caramel in the mouth and a lovely bitter finish behind the swallow, which wrestles the sweetness out of your mouth bit by bit. An exceptional example of the breed!
There's nothing fishy about this beer and I would love to try the company's other brews. Calico has set the bar very high though.
