Beau's Lug Tread

Beau's Lug Tread Lagered ale: you'll need a tractor to drag home cases of it!
Beau's Lug Tread lagered ale
Beau's Brewery, ON, Canada
You won't be spoiled for choice at Beau's Brewery: Lug Tread lagered ale is the only beer they brew and it's made from spring water and certified organic malts.
Nor will you leave clutching a couple of bottles and a promise to return for more. Indeed, Lug Tread is only available in growler size or above. 1.89L of beer makes quite a dent in the fridge and the hefty $4 deposit is only one good reason to go back to the brewery for a refill.
Not that you'll need your arm twisting too hard. Lug Tread is a light-tasting, floral-scented 5.2% abv beer, lagerish in mouth feel but without the chemical twang or bitterness you can get from lagers. It is distinctly moreish!
Unlike one of its direct competitors, Mill Street Organic Lager, Beau's Lug Tread is packed with flavour and has a lingering aftertaste that will make you reach for the growler until it's drained of its final drops.
It's got a mild, benign flavour that's summery and friendly. Indeed, it would be a fabulous companion for an afternoon of BBQ debauchery – the likes of which occur frequently at this time of year.
Your initial mouthful is sweet, light, fruity and floral. Immediately afterwards comes a bitter sting that you will (from experience) expect to descend into lager hell.
But Lug Tread is a perfect chaperone, holding you by the arm and meandering gently away without a bitter aftertaste (or copping a feel of your backside).
Pretty soon, that growler will seem like false economy. You'll wish you had sprung for an entire kegful.
What better reason to invite a bunch of friends over for a cookout?
If you find this on tap in your local pub, phone the better half to tell her you won't be coming home, park your ass on the nearest comfy chair and order up several pints in advance, just in case they run out.
Beau's Lug Tread is what organic beer should be about. Locally produced, perfectly balanced and an ideal companion for an entire day and night of summer food and drink. Now, what will Beau's come up with for the winter months, I wonder?
