Why publish a Beer Content Guide? Because it's not so easy to create beer-themed content.
Hopefully this guide will aid you in the
lean times when nothing seems to come naturally.
We've linked to samples, too.
If there's anything you think we should add to our Beer Content Guide, tell us at Last Orders.
What's your all-time favourite brew in any category of beer? Start with lager, ale, stout, porter, pilsner, heck, even cider.
Already written about those? Write about your second-, third- or fourth-favourite. Or tell us the story of how you discovered it. Who introduced you to it? Where did you first try it?
Repeat the above for your all-time favourite bar in the area. Or the best serving person. (We won't object if you're just trying to impress them into bed, by building a web page in their honour.)
Maybe you HATE a beer and want to tell
everybody why? Check out Kate McKeon's rant about Shiner Bock beer.
Been thinking of trying a local brew for a while now? Buy a case to take to a party, grab a camera and start sipping!
Arranging dinner plans? Choose a brewpub, as Shannon Wand did with her Les Trois Brasseurs review.
Barred from a local pub? Tell us your side of the story!
What happened at the last Beer Festival you attended? Have you been on a beer-themed vacation? Write about them, as Lucia Novara did at last year's Great American Beer Festival.
If you've not seen Ashley's Christmas Day Quebec beer review video, here it is again. He took a selection pack to the house as a Christmas present, brought his video camera and just rambled for a while. No script, just a chilled-out review session.
Don't get stressed by the need to create. What feels right usually is right, in our experience.
The solution is not a simple one. But you're not alone.
Until establishing the UNOB, Ashley Cotter-Cairns had never written about beer, despite drinking it for over 20 years! This doesn't come easy. You have to practise.
Compare two beers to each other. Look at the colours, smell them, take one sip of each. Are they sweet, bitter, spicy, fruity? Is there an aftertaste? Is the taste what you'd expect from that type of beer?
If you've experienced a lot of the beer in one session, how does it make you feel? Is it a light or heavy hangover? Do you fill up quickly on it, or can it be an all-night companion?
Heck, it's YOUR style. If you want to go all wine-taster on us and start finding notes of cherry, rancid watermelon or shades of museli, let her rip.
This is a major issue for us. Pics are more or less essential to all our pages.
Look on Google, MSN and Yahoo image searches for whatever it is you're reviewing. Or beg, borrow or steal a camera for the duration of the review process.
