Bete Noire Imperial Stout (7.5% ABV)

Au Maitre Brasseur is among my top three Quebec breweries and this beer is a good example of why I like it so much. This is a classic interpretation of a stout, strong in taste and alcohol without being over the top.

Burnt caramel brown-black with a fluffy brown, lingering, thin head. Smells of toasted chestnut and chocolate, with lots of bitterness beneath. Continues below

Quite fizzy. Medium mouth feel, not too thin. Very coffee-chocolatey and slightly sweet, then turns sharply bitter at the swallow. Delicious long aftertaste with a warming alcohol glow in the guts that will bring a smile to your lips, even as you lick them.

Even the impossible can be found on eBay, if you are patient in your searching. Try searching for Russian River (you'll need to narrow down by beer name, ex. Pliny, Damnation, Temptation), Black Albert, or any of the BIG beers. Don't overlook eBay's Belgium Beer results either...
