Of all the local breweries in Las Vegas, Big Dog's is the only one I have found to brew a Pumpkin Ale. Dave Otto, the Brewmaster, does a fantastic job with all of his beers and this one is no exception.

This pumpkin ale stars off with an aroma which smells of allspice and pumpkin pie seasonings, but has no real no pumpkin aroma at all. There is no real malt or hop aromas present and negligible yeast esters in the scent.
As the beer warms however, the spices kick in and then you start to get some of that malt sweetness going on.
Big Dog's appearance is a light amber color with no haze or cloudiness. This beer has a thick foamy head which slowly dissipates while beer is consumed and the head clings to the glass while consumed and leaves foam rings with each stop. There is a lot of carbonation with this beer as well which keeps the head so strong.
The flavor is of light malt which gives way to the allspice and pumpkin flavors. There is no real hop bitterness to mention, but the flavors all blend well to create a great taste profile. The aftertaste lingers on the palate like a creamy piece of pie without the crust.
BD's Pumpkin Ale has a very smooth texture which coats the palate with a strong allspice taste. It is very light and refreshing with some good carbonation and a nice medium body.
Overall, this is a great beer for a flavored ale. Very drinkable and the flavors are mild and do not overwhelm the quality of the ale.
