Biker Beer: VROOOOOOOOOOOM
Biker Beer is Canada's newest beer brand being produced in Ontario. Produced exclusively for the niche market of motorcycle riders and enthusiasts, Biker-Beer is a unique and limited product with a story of inception unparalleled by nearly all other beer brands.
Every Friday 13th for the past 29 years, has seen hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists descend on the small Lake Erie beach town of Port Dover, Ontario. The population swells from it's typical 5527 people to over 175 000 for this one day motorcycle rally.
Bikers and bike enthusiasts travel from all over the United States and Canada to take part in the largest motorcycle rally in Canada. The streets are closed to cars, and the town is filled with motorcycles, leather, and chrome.
This one day event attracts the unique, unusual, and eccentric, and on Friday 13th 2007 there was a wedding in the centre of Main Street. Jan and Trevor Telford were planning on getting married, and decided that as avid motorcyclists there would be no better place to recite their vows than in front of 150 000 of their best friends. After the wedding they were having a beer, and that is when the idea struck....
Trevor observed that 150 000 extremely brand loyal people gather for a one day event, and yet there has never been a beer brewed for them. That moment was pivitol in their lives and at that instant, the idea for Biker-Beer was born. Over the next couple of years, the topic of Biker-Beer was discussed on a regular basis, and a thumnail sketch of a business plan, label design, and marketing concept was formulated; with Biker-Beer becoming an actual beer brand ... at least in their minds.
With the new decade, it was decided that 2010 would be a time for change, and Trevor began the Biker-Beer Brewing Company Inc. with the sole focus on creating a beer brand for motorcycle riders and those who love them.
On May 24th, the first keg of Biker-Beer was ready to be tapped, with an exceptional response from a variety of media outlets who printed the story. The label design for Biker-Beer was printed in the Toronto Sun and Hamilton Spectator, and in short order a copy found it's way onto the desk of the label approval department at the LCBO. Before the label was even submitted for approval, the phone call came in from the LCBO stating emphatically and in no uncertain terms that the current label would never be considered for use on bottles in the LCBO and Beer Stores. The label can be used in bars and restaurants, but will never be available for those who wish to purchase Biker-Beer to enjoy at home.
The Official Launch for Biker-Beer was held on Friday 13th 2010 in Port Dover, celebrating 37 months since the idea of Biker-Beer was born. The event was held in a 9000 square foot Biker-Beer Beer Garden with live bands playing throughout the day, and ice cold Biker-Beer flowing freely. The launch was a resounding success, with thousands of Bikers having their first glass of Biker-Beer, and a sell out of Official Launch Biker-Beer T-Shirts.
A new label has been submitted to the LCBO for approval, and as soon as the red tape has been unrolled, Biker-Beer will be available in selected Beer Stores across Ontario.
The Biker-Beer Brewing Company has reprinted the Official Launch T-Shirt and is offering a special promotion for beer collectors. With every purchase of an Official Launch T-Shirt, you will also receive 5 of the "Banned Beer Labels" for free. Once these labels are gone we will not be printing more. There is one stipulation to receive the free labels ... you must send in a picture of yourself surrounded with your beer collection. These pictures may be used in the future on the website and in the Biker-Beer archieve.
Please visit www.bikerbeer.ca and click on the beer collector link to receive your special offer. Biker-Beer is truly a grass roots beer brand and we need as much help as possible to get us started. The overhead costs are enormous, and the length of time that it will take to develop the Biker-Beer brand at this time seems overwhelming. We truly believe that Biker-Beer can become a viable niche market brand, and if anyone has any advice or contacts that may be of assistance, it would be truly appreciated. Buy a t-shirt, help us out, and become part of history. ( international posatge rates will apply to all merchandise. Please inquire with your country of origin. )
Cheers,
Biker-Beer Brewing Company Inc.
