Blue Cowrie beer: probably the funniest label in the world
Of course, the product inside is much more important than the outside, but I have never found a beer label quite as funny as that of Blue Cowrie. Before I discuss that, a little about the beer.
This 350ml can beer is a 4% abv beer, which upon inspection was quite bitter and not particularly smooth, although it did have a good hop flavour.
The smell was similar: quite hoppy but not exactly smooth or enticing.
The beer is brewed by the Blue Ribbon Group from Guangdong in Canton, South China and despite having a good flavour is definitely not a memorable beer or one that I would particularly choose to buy again.
However, it isn’t exactly an offensive or bad beer and I wouldn’t avoid it on purpose: the perfect definition of average.
Despite being an average beer, the label of Blue Cowrie is anything but average.
With a picture of a cowboy drinking a beer on the front, it has a message in brilliant Chinglish (that’s Chinese style English) about the beer's merits. It reads:
"It is relaxing and free when getting rid of the living of rules. What we see is happy facial expressions. And having laughing from the bottom of the heart. Feeling kind of encouragement and makes far from us. Just this moment, value your wine with warm in your heart."
What more can I say? The majesty of this label speaks for itself. If only all beers had such classy messages on them, we would be sure to drink them non-stop!
