Breckenridge 471 Double IPA
Breckenridge Brewery, CO
By now most of us have heard the phrase "The best thing since sliced bread". But the question has yet to be answered, until now. What is better than sliced bread? Beer. More specifically, Breckenridge's 471 IPA. Brewed in very small batches, 471 is climbing the ranks amongst its peers.
471 is double hopped with Chinook, Centennial, Simcoe and Fuggles hops with a vast mix of malts and British Ale Yeast to create one of the best IPAs I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying.
From the pour till the last drop of the glass, 471 delivers a great taste. Intense hopping brings out a bright citrus taste that is backed up with smooth Caramel-30 malts. The hoppiness is very aggressive, 70 IBU to be exact, yet 471 maintains a highly drinkable taste.
Peaking out at 9.2% ABV, this should be considered a strong ale and is definitely not for the faint of palate.
471 pours an almost burnt amber in color and holds a thick creamy head. After the first few sips the head dissipates and leaves a lacy pattern down the glass. 471 maintains a high degree of consistency throughout and as it warms the citrus notes become more exposed. When pairing with food, fire up the grill and cook up some red meat and peppers. Enjoy!
