The last beer sampled was another Queensland beer tasting experience: a locally-brewed Castlemeine XXXX beer called XXXX Special Brew. It's 6.5% ABV and comes in bottles with a screw cap.
True Queenslanders are very proud of their beer. However, even my regional mates thought this beer was disgusting. Extremely powerful in taste, it's like swallowing liquid dirty socks in flavour. There was no getting over this, no matter how many hard sips was tried.
The boys were very disappointed with this brew. "Dead set crap" was the final verdict and a lot of discussion followed on what means of death could be bestowed upon the person who invented this beer.
It was wrong in every palatable sense and, unless you are partial to tasting vile swill of bile, all three of us recommend that you stay clear of this shocker of a beer. It's a big disappointment from our beloved XXXX brewery.
