Cheeky Monk Belgian Beer Cafe: Lucia's new home from home
Denver, CO, USA
Pack my bags and shut the gate, I'm moving to Belgium. Or at least taking up semi-permanent residency on a bar stool at the Cheeky Monk Belgium Beer Cafe.
This place just opened up on Colfax in Denver and if you ever vaugely enjoyed a wheat beer, you need to get over there and belly up. With a serious array of imported and local drafts, it specializes in all things Belgiumese. They even have a Belgium Waffle brunch that looked quite tasty.
Sadly, the closest I've ever been to Belgium was coyly telling a cute high school exchange student from there that "I had never had a real French kiss before," thereby displaying both my awesome game AND absurd ignorance of European geography at the same time! But anyway, lacking an actual trip to Belgium, this is your best bet for sampling all the goodness that it has to offer.
Links to my reviews at this great location:
Delirium Tremens beer
New Belgium 1554 Black Ale
De Konick Amber
Kwak beer
Leffe Blond beer
Maredsous 8 Dubbel
So if you have some cash to spend and like delicious and complex beers served in different glasses with sides of waffles, the Cheeky Monk is your joint.
