I am always excited to open a new Dogfish Head brew, because, like Diel Du Ciel! in Montreal, they push the envelope with totally original beers.
If you want original, then Raison D'Etre is brewed with green raisins; but to me, it's essentially a "Scotch" style ale in character with little to set it apart from other red ales you'll have tried.
It's strong, very drinkable, with a strong presence of alcohol. No shrinking violet, for sure. But not much memorable either.
