Doom Bar beer

Doom Bar beer (4% ABV)
Sharp's Brewery, Cornwall, UK
Drunk at the White Lion, Wherwell, Hants, UK
I've had this beer before from the bottle while in Cornwall and it wasn't truly memorable. However, the White Lion made the effort to have this available from the cask and there was definitely a difference.
It's a smooth, still beer with little or no head or carbonation. Dark reddish mahogany. Japan Delegate Douglas Gloag (whose name means "dark water") said that the beer looks like dark water! It's super-easy to drink and slips down almost without your noticing.
I did find it a bit too sweet for my personal taste, but there was a lot going on in my mouth: layers of interesting flavours. Well worth checking out – the White Lion is one of very few places which this beer could have been found outside of Cornwall on that particular rainy March day.
