I just got finished reading James Collins' review of Double Chocolate stout and all I can say is "Wow."

Maybe it's me. Maybe it's a girl thing... the chocolate, you know ... or maybe the fact that James did some serious damage in an open bar that was serving Miller High Life says it all.

Maybe you have to have a taste for heavier beer to begin with... which I do. Give me a Bass ale Bass ale, a Sam Adams, a good porter, or even a Guinness and I am happy. I don't drink light beer and Budweiser, Miller, Coors, Michelob haven't passed my lips since my college days.

I sat down to dinner with my husband and daughter in Hershey... home of all things chocolate... and spied the Double Chocolate Stout on the list while I was making my dinner selection. Curious, I ordered it... and boy, was I glad I did! The taste and the scent were pure bliss. I could smell the chocolate as I lifted the glass to my lips, and the head tasted like a chocolate milkshake.

This is not a beer you slam down in a drinking contest. This is a beer that's meant to be enjoyed. I drank it with my steak and enjoyed the mixture of flavors: it was like drinking a Guinness with some Hershey's chocolate syrup mixed in, only smoother. It was just wonderful.

"Heaven in a bottle," I later told a friend who is a big fan of Irish car bombs. And it was heaven in a bottle.

Greatest beer ever created
by: Cocksmith

Need I say more? This is the single greatest stout ever created. It's expensive and worth it.

How many times can you use the word "Yummy"
by: Stacey Langille, Beer Delegate, NS, Canada

How many times can you use the word "yummy" before it is worn out? Well I just had a bottle of Young's Double Chocolate stout and could not stop saying yummy after every delicious taste.

When I say taste that is exactly what I mean. This is a beer you should not gulp down, but savor and enjoy until the very last drop passes your grateful tongue.

I had passed by this bottle many times on my way to the usual standards and the purple and gold label with its ram head sticking out always caught my eye. This time I grabbed a bottle, little knowing how much I was going to enjoy what awaited me.

I decided that it would be my dessert and so it went in the fridge until after I cooked, ate, cleaned the dishes and could sit down to really enjoy or hate what was in store for me.

Now I was ready and there it sat on the fridge shelf nicely cooled waiting consumption.

Upon cracking the top I realized right away enjoyment was on the way, as it had a sweet aroma that was definitely true ale, but the subtle and realistic chocolate scent pleasantly teased my senses.

Once poured, it revealed itself as a true dark beer, sitting very proudly in its glass, and when raised to the ceiling light it was just as dark as it was in its bottle. Man was I excited.

This specialty beer is about $4 a bottle in my neck of the woods and is brewed in the United Kingdom. Its ingredients are as follows: brewing water, pale ale malt, chocolate malt, oats, dark sugar, hops, yeast, and natural chocolate flavoring. Sounds healthy to me, so here I go!

The first sip was pleasantly surprising, as when I try a new beer I am on guard for the worst and build my experience upwards. I went straight to the top floor with this one and each sip seemed to get better. The chocolate taste elegantly mixing with the ale was a match made in heaven.

Well, that's a bit strong, but as far as a UK-produced specialty beer this one outdid itself by my standards.

I really did not want it to be gone upon the last sip and will definitely grab a bottle next time I am in the mood for an excellent dessert beer. So forget the cake, ice-cream, donuts or whatever has been floating your dessert boat. Grab a silky rich and creamy smooth Young's Double Chocolate Stout. Cheers!

Double Chocolate Stout is wonderful stuff
by: Anonymous

I agree with Karen Bush's statement "it was just wonderful". Young's Double Chocolate Stout is a beer to be savored. She also try Rogue Chocolate Stout, from Oregon.
I suspect that James Collins is new to the world of stouts and as his tastes mature he will come over to the dark side ;)
