After leaving Chico I drove west over the hills to the west into wine country to visit a pub in Napa.

If you are driving through this area there are several pubs in Calistoga, St. Helena and Napa. Downtown Joe’s in Napa was my ultimate destination.

This pub is located right by the river and has comfortable indoor seating and a great patio. The beers are all very well done in a small and somewhat primitive 7 bbl brewhouse. There is a lot of fermentation and storage space so there is room to experiment and keep at least 10 beers on all the time.

My cheese and fruit platter paired nicely with all the beers. There was no combination that didn’t work.
