Fullers London porter

Fullers London porter

by Ashley Cotter-Cairns
(UNOB Towers)

Fullers London porter has the privilege of being the first porter I "got". Bear with me, it's been a steep learning curve for me, trying many more beers than I ever knew existed before I began the UNOB project.

What appealed to me more than the others I'd tasted before it was the aftertaste was more like a beer than many that had gone before it. Call me traditional, but I like beer to resemble beer, at least a little, and while it was definitely a strongly coffee-flavoured drink, London porter was nicely balanced and very enjoyable.

I didn't taste a hint of the promised chocolate, though...

Best Porter I've ever tried
by: Cocksmith

Like the person before me, I'm not sure if the stars are rating the review or the beer. My 5 stars are for this beer. I live in Sacramento, Ca so finding this beer is not easy. In fact, it was discontinued at the one store I always went to and for about 6 months I was completely unable to find it anywhere. There is a restaurant/bar in downtown Sacramento called the Fox and Goose (English of course) that serves it on tap. I thought I loved this beer when I tried it in the bottle! Just thinking of it on tap actually brings a smile to my face. Those peeps from the British Isles know how to make dark beers like nobody else in the world. I'm addicted. Next to the all time greatest Young's Double Chocolate Stout, this is the best beer I have ever tasted.

Great beer - but try the cask version
by: Alastair

Not sure if I'm rating the review or the beer so I've made an assumption and given 5 stars for the beer. Fullers London Porter is certainly one of my favourite porters, however the cask version is a better drink as you don't get the fizziness associated with bottled beers. It's available in most Fullers pubs in the UK during autumn (that's the same as 'fall' that is!), winter, and early spring. I've recently seen a keg version in some Fullers pubs. Haven't tried that version but suspect it's closer to the bottled version.
