Granville Island Brewing English Bay Pale ale
Granville Island Brewing, Vancouver, BC, Canada
The latest in a selection brought back for me fresh from BC. So far, English Bay Pale has been the best of an average bunch of BC beer.
Pours orange-amber. I was pretty aggressive with the pour and the head welled up, but very soon settled down to a thin ring around the top. Lots of carbonation.
Flat wheat-ish smell, also smells a bit sweet and perhaps a hint of cherry. Initial taste quickly falls from a peak of swelling fruity wheat into gradually bittering hop taste.
Aftertaste mellows into a light, rolling sweetness which counterpoints the bitterness nicely. That cherry hint reveals itself as a finale, reminding me of cherry brandy.
