Just one of the many items in our Guinness Store

There are not many people now who know that Guinness, famed manufacturers of Kelly green plastic hats and "Kiss me, I'm Too Drunk To Run Away" T-shirts, once brewed beer!

It's hard to believe, but true. This Guinness "stout" (as it was known) was a refreshing pitch-black brew that enjoyed great popularity around the world, from Dublin to Boston.

Experts are unsure why the company shifted away from brewing and towards making Guinness Stout gear for drunken revellers, but suggest it may have had something to do with an early pagan festival known as "Saint Particle's Day".

We may never know what this ancient brew tasted like. In our modern age of HyperAle and 8-dimensional Lager, it can be hard to believe that brewers once had to make beer without the benefit of Venusian Slime Weevils or hydroponically grown zero-gravity hops.

Wearing this Guinness 1759 T-shirt will give you and your clones something to talk about other than how much alike you are. Unless you all buy one, which is the kind of thing you probably do, being clones.
