Guinness Glasses: Gaelic Label Tankard

Just one of the many items in our Guinness Store
Tankards are a slightly old-fashioned form of glassware, but they do have their advantages.
One is that by holding the handle, rather than the sides of the glass, you avoid transferring heat from your hand into your beer, keeping it at optimum temperature for longer.
The other is that they make it more impressive when you pose with a tankard in one hand and the other on the mantle of your fireplace and welcome people to your party/Christmas TV Spectacular.
The main disadvantage of the tankard is that it encourages people to smash their drinking vessels together in celebration. This usually starts out okay, but I can guarantee that by the end of the evening, somebody is going to get beer all over them and probably glass in their eye. It's all fun and games until somebody loses an eye...
Material for tankards has varied over the years. Pewter tankards are favored by the hard core real ale fanatics in England. They are less likely to break, but they will dent and they label you as the kind of person who is going to talk the bartender's ear off about ideal serving temperatures. I own several.
These Guinness Glasses have Gaelic Guinness labels on them. Extra credibility if you are able to translate the Gaelic and pronounce it correctly.
