Half Pints The Father: part of its seasonal Holy Trinity series
Half Pints Brewing, MB, Canada
It's part of what Half Pints calls the "Holy Trinity" series (the other two in the series being The Son and The Holy Spirit), which is released one at a time from January to mid-February.
The Father is a Belgian Dubbel style brew and contains 7.2% ABV with an IBU of 20.
What better place to being a World Tour of Beer? I've been waiting for the Holy Trinity since I discovered that Half Pints brews some of the best beer I've ever tasted.
The Father is an exceptionally appropriate beer for the cold Winnipeg winter. High in alcohol and best served at a higher temperature (they suggest 8 degrees Celsius on the bottle).
This beer has an almost red-wine-like quality to it. It is meant to have a fruity aroma, but it is not overpowering at all. After sampling fruit beers such as Fruuli, I have become wary of beers that equate themselves with fruit.
This is definitely an exception. This wouldn't be my choice of beer to bring to a frat house party and suck down via funnel, but few beers worth drinking are. The Father is much more appropriate for drinking with a complimentary meal (not day-old pepperoni pizza, as I did).
