La Barberie Blonde au Chardonnay 2008 (10% ABV)
La Barberie, QC, Canada
Beer on lees (yeast), bomber-style bottle but sealed with a star cap.
Pours a rich, deep amber orange (almost the perfect amber: without insects preserved in it!) and a lacy, orange-white head that sticks around. Smells strongly of citrus peel and yeast. Lots of carbonation.
Very creamy, full mouth feel, almost but not quite spiced-tasting, loads of citrus in the mouth. The alcohol is cleverly masked by the bitter peel taste. Warming after the swallow, as you'd expect of a 10% ABV beer!
Excellent choice, a strong recommendation. The best beer by La Barberie that I've tasted so far.
