A bizarre beer that will have you reaching for new ways to describe beer -- or reaching for new beer -- in no time.

Typical golden amber lager style pour. Smells incredibly bitter, also reminds me of British cider. No head. Continues below

Eek! Fizzy mouth feel, strong taste of citrus peel at the swallow, massively bitter, almost exactly like grapefruit skin, with a weird pulsing aftertaste (I guess this is the absinthe?). Your taste buds literally won't know what's hit them. "Interesting" is putting it mildly.

I doubt whether this will win over too many fans, but I can report that at the tail end of the pint, I am used to this beer and not hating it. But I won't buy it again. $9 CDN can also buy you the incredible (and I mean IN-CRED-IBLE!) Trois Mousquetaires Extreme Series Weizenbock. That is money much, much better spent than this oddity.

Even the impossible can be found on eBay, if you are patient in your searching. Try searching for Russian River (you'll need to narrow down by beer name, ex. Pliny, Damnation, Temptation), Black Albert, or any of the BIG beers. Don't overlook eBay's Belgium Beer results either...
