WHAM! Winter warmers don't come much stronger than Holiday Spice from Wisconsin's Lakefront. Whether you enjoy it, or not, depends on your opinion about spiced beer, but either way, I'll go out on a limb and say this is a fine example of the style and an iron fist inside a velvet glove.
Pours deep mahogany brown with a slender head. Smells quite spiced and rather sweet; somewhere between cinnamon and clove.
Not much gas in the mouth feel, but plenty of other excitement to entertain you! Almost immediately, that 9.5% punch makes itself felt, but you'll be too busy snatching at tastes to notice it at first. Pepper, clove, cinnamon, treacle -- this is a plum pudding in beer form!
Upon the swallow you get tons of fruit and an alcohol burn. This is one strong beer, a sipper, perfect on a cold winter night. Holiday Spice is addictive and I'd give it one over Sporty Spice or her pals any day.
