Land Shark beer. Fins up!

Land Shark beer. Fins up!

Robb Zerr, respecting your opinion, I stand to disagree with your review of Land Shark beer from Jax, FL.

I found Land Shark beer this year while on St. George island for a wedding of a family member.

Since then I have had to make two trips back to the sunshine state to stock up, because they don't have it north of the Georgia/Florida line (600 miles round trip).

I find it clean and easy to kick back. No lingering after-taste to make you wish you hadn't wasted your time or money. Continues below
Anyway it's a good excuse to get out on the Harley when it's time for a beer run. Just need a bigger trailor to pull my Land Shark beer behind me.

This Lager is devoid of flavor. I might as well be drinking water from the tap. If a bottle was on display I would have not made the purchase, for the substance appears as urine.

Land Shark in Long Island....
by: BBOOP

I love it, love it, love it...A friend had been given Land Shark at an upscale resturant in Midtown Manhattan when they ran out of Corona. She enjoyed it so that she asked for it at other resturants, local distributor,or bars and could not find it. Low and behold "Walmart" in Long Island started selling it and I decided then to give it a try, well I could not get enough of it. The best beer I've had in a long time. Smooth, light, no bloating feeling and no after taste. I hope that it comes to bars and resturants soon...

Landshark: Its not just for breakfast anymore.
by: Cap'n Dan

Ayeeeeee....toss the mangy hydes to the depths of the sea to those scoundrels who dispute the good tastes of the Landshark brew says I! Avast!!! Fer this here brew be far greater than any of its competitors in the market of lagers. Note: I said lager. I didn't say draughts, imports, or darks. However, I be lovin the taste far greater than any other in me own opinion. The price could be far less cheaper, but like Jimmy Buffet himself, the beer is selfish with high costs like the mans concerts and souvineers. Fail not, fer yer cap'n be havin a team working around the clock to identify the 17 secret herbs and spices fer this here brew. Who does he think he is...Curnel Sanders? (Yes, I realize Curnel is spelled wrong, but thats what it sounds like. This isn't the way you spell curnel-------> colonel)

Had one at aconcert last weekend and was very disappointed. Had heavy after taste and some skunk to it. Maybe I had a bad one, but the one I tried was not anything I'd pay money for. Couldn't get enough lime in it to cover bitter taste.

light and amusing
by: daArch

Just had a party, wanted a 1/6 Barrel of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, but the AB distrib only had sixths of Land Pee - 'cuse me, Shark Pee. My freindly "beer steward" said it was like Corona without the skunk and with more flavor. Like that's hard?

well, paid the $50 and brought it home. The stuff is one of the most insipid beers on the planet. Reminds me of ANY pale American mass produced larger, although it had a "cleaner" taste than Riceweiser. More like miller on draft, which if you are between the ages of 18 and 24 on a hot desert island playing horseshoes, ain't nothing to complain about.

Then I thought about the price, for a keg. At $50 for 5.16 gallon, that's the equivalent of 91 cents per 12 ounce container. WTF! I coulda bought Coors or Rolling Rock or Miller or ANY other bland American mass produced larger for cheaper.

Absolutely NOTHING special about this beer. But, at least it wasn't skunked.

Billy Beer for the 21st Century
by: drpfs

Have you noticed the folks who write such glowing reviews use the word light, not after taste, etc. They don't want beer they want soda pop (a taste most of America wants in very thing). Beer is not intended to be so delicate except a good Pilsner. Folk this is commodity beer, it is put in giant tank cars and moved around the country just like gasoline. Coors, AB, and Miller the basic beer is the same just add a flavor pack to the tank (just like gasoline).
Buffet and AB have now added a new flavor pack and called it a micro-brew, from a plant that produces enough "beer" to float a city. Stop the misleading advertising hype and I hope this stuff goes the way of "Billy Beer" from the Carter Administration.

I always wondered what happened to Schaefer
by: Bluto

They made Schaefer Light and called it Land Shark.

Apparently, someone had already trademarked Piss Water.

This truly is a nothing beer that is all about the marketing.

If you are a Jimmy Buffett fan, you probably drink this stuff for breakfast.

If you are just a beer lover, you would be well advised to steer clear of this carbonated swill unless you have a hankering for an overpriced replacement for Corona Light. Because that is just what it tastes like.

Only worse.

I went to the grocery store today with my wife and when I walked in I found landshark on sale for 2 for $3.00 a six pack and thought holly S**T whats wrong with it /skunky out of date what. so I grabbed a 6 paid and ran outside to crack one. about a minute later I was back in the store loading 10 cases into the cart and woundering how long will this stuff keep. Anyway as I sit here typing this and drinking my 25 cent landsharks I'm thinking I would pay 3 bucks a bottle at the bar for this but a quarter a piece to drink it at home is much better.

Vote an enthusiastic yea! It's a Macro-brew all the way though. Agree with those who liken to a Miller product-somewhere between MGD, High Life & Lite & that's fine with me. Lots of hot days here in Houston,& Landshark goes down easy in the backyard. Wish I could drink it on my visits to Margaritavilles in Cozumel,Caymans & Jamaica, but apparently can't export there.
Not really an everyday beer price, but for fellow retiring 60+ "Pirates" who paid their dues, treat yourself. (Goes especially well listening to "Live in Anguilla" CD).

I'd rather spend that $$ on a six of Stella or Peroni, or Kirin, or Tsingtao.

Put it back in the horse!
by: Tijuanadonkeyshow

This is by far one of the worst liquids ever created by man, including fluids he may naturally produced. If one has so little of a life to extol a beer just because an elderly has-been musician (Jimmy Buffet) who spawned a cheese-ball cultural group (Parrot-heads) has lent the fruit of his greasy commercial soul (Margaritaville)to the brewers of said beer (Anheuser-Busch), then that person ought to look into drinking something with a much higher alcohol content.

This beer will not magically transport you to any island paradise, it will not make you a tropical wayfarer, will not give you a tan, will not teach you to scuba dive or surf, and will not increase your attractiveness to the opposite sex. It will set you back more than a Pabst Blue Ribbon - a better choice, in taste as well as economics.

If you are tempted to purchase this beer as a ticket to sun-kissed beachy bliss, please bear in mind that while the name of its hellish cradle is the "Margaritaville Brewery," this facility is located in a busy port city in the far north of Florida - having more in common with Cleveland than Cancun.

The beer is no worse than a bud or MGD or any other American lager. It's a perfect fit for a hot summer day, if all you want is a cold one (very cold). But if that's all you want, buy any one of the others for less $$$. AB get a fin-slap across teh face for teh blatant attempt to misrepresent a generic AB brew as a micro-brew, and for having the gall to charge for it. They have never been known to be shy about separating Americans from tehir cash in any way they can. Maybe InBev will add a little character to some of their offerings.

Gimme a Break
by: Anonymous

My husband and I discovered this beer a few months ago in our local bars/restaurants. Before reading too much into the label (in other words, before we knew about the whole Parrot Head connection and expected too much from it), we both agreed that it was easy to drink, and somewhere between a Corona and a Bud/Labatt/Miller regular. Yes, it is a macro, yes it is like water - but let's not forget, people - it's carbonated and ALCOHOLIC water! And that is a beautiful thing for those of us roasting in the mid-summer humidity. Not so much a beer for gettin drunk on, but that is good for us because as parents we aren't interested in getting drunk (someone has to watch the kids). Still, a good sunshine-y buzz is nothing to sneeze at, and Land Shark is a refreshing, thirst-quenching, buzz-loving beer. I'm all for it, and even though I love Jimmy Buffett, I don't give a crap about the connection and I don't care if AB brews it. Why should I? I just want to have a good time, with a decent beer, and this is it.

I have been a loyal Miller Lite drinker for years now and have never felt even a slight urge to stray. I have to say....I have found a new favorite beer. You see, I often, very often drink large amounts of beer. From the first time I kicked back a Landshark, I knew that I was in trouble. This beer is definately going to keep more beer coming my way...for a long time. I will continue to sit back on my cousin Danny's Deck and drink entirely too many beer while sweating like a pig in a triathalon. I will continue to hurl excess foam over the deck toward the neighbors entrance and laugh while trying to clean my mouth. I will continue to say nonsense sayings, words, and rhymes while being way too drunk to drive later. So, Thanks a lot Landshark! You are definately contributing to the good times to come.

The guy behind the register tried to sell me a six pack of Land Shark, but i saw no where on the label that it containe lime and salt, but he's telling me it does. I see alot of comments both good and bad, but does anyone know what is really in it.

Thanks

Bill

New Fave
by: Spikermom

Went to Wichita for my daughter's 21st b-day. Her boyfriend had Landshark. My husband is a die hard
Stag drinker and the rest of us have always been Bud Light fans. I have tried Corona and hated it. We all love the Land Shark. We went through at least 3 cases at the house, plus what we had in Old Town bar hopping. Finally found it back in southeast Missouri, guess what guys, we have a new favorite beer. It is a little high priced, but I'll splurge as much as I can. But no matter what your opinion, Bottoms Up.

Good for Girls
by: Aaron

This beer is okay, it doesn't taste "bad". But by no means can it be considered a good beer and it struggles to be beer even. Girls will enjoy it year round. And everyone can enjoy it during the summer. There is no need to be a snob about it, it aims to be a light beer to relax with in the summer sun and that is what it is. No more, no less. No flavor, no worries.

ROBB ZERR... I CONCUR...
by: Minneesota

I stopped to pick up a six or two of Dos Equis (XX) Lager on my way home tonight -- it's a staple at my house -- I eyed the Landshark Lager in the cooler. $7.99 for a six. I am no snob, but do have a preferential pallet, and my favorites include Dos Equis, Leines Honey Wiess, Fosters, or Molson Lager.

My wife happens to refer to Margariteville in Vegas as "the greatest place on earth", so I thought she'd get a kick out of this new bottle in the fridge with the shark fin. I guess that's where the uniqueness ends. Geeze - for $7.99 they can't even use actual paint on the bottle like the Corona people, but use a cheap clear plastic label instead! WTF?

Anyhow, I'm willing to give it a fair shake, so I opened one up to try it out. The beer is smooth all right -- kind of like drinking weak lemonade, under-brewed iced tea, or a glass of water. No flavor whatsoever. What would possibly motivate me to lay down money that'll buy a perfectly good bottled import for this swill? That's right... Nothing.

I just bought my first AND last six of Landshark.
Quite a disappointment from Buffet and company.

What does Jimmy think?
by: Anonymous

...at a moment like this , i cant help but wonder "What would Jimmy Buffet dooooo!"
I like the Land Shark, Miller Lite, Miller Chill and thats about it. I wonder what Jimmy thinks of this beer, I hear he is more into beers than Margaritas, But i loove Margaritas too. The good thing about these beers is the no after headache, I may be getting old but i remember going from Bud to bud lite, Bud left a gritty tase Bud light Gave me a headache the next day... I like the Pakaging and taste of the Landshark, But as with all new items the cost is pretty high for what you get ...
Wasted Away...............Again!

Love it! Love it! Love it!
by: Landshark Lover

I tried this beer and I just feel in lover with it. I am not a Butt Wipe(Bud Light)drinker and it tastes nothing like it. I use to drink Corona and I have kicked that beer to the curb. Landshark is a very refreshing beer. It is a lil' to high on the cost but I think it is worth it. Miller Lite and Landshark are the only 2 beers that do not give me a headache.... Would be great if they came out with a Landshark Light.. I give 2 Fins up with a twist!!!!

WHAT'S WITH ALL THE CARBS?
by: Anonymous

I tasted Landshark for the first time this weekend. Although I thought it was refreshing, it is a little watery tasting. Miller Lite has a better taste with only 3.5 carbs. What's with 13.4 carbs in Landshark? Too many carbs, no flavor.

beer
by: matt

First of all I am a Bud Dry drinker, $3.79 a six pack or $7.39 a 12 pack, here in Oklahoma. Its very similiar to Bud Lite but at almost half the cost. I tried Landshark and loved the smoothness and no aftertaste or bite, but its $8.00 a sicx pack and that is too expensive for me.
Whooooo guys, Miller lite does have more taste than Bud, its taste like crap. I hate it and we dont drink it much here. I understand in Chicago and nothern states that ML is the beer to drink. I did drink the stuff at the $1.00 night but suffered major headaches during and after and hated that major (hoppy) aftertaste.
Anyway I would probably love the new lime but light but just hate to pay the price for it. Try Bud Dry, add a lime and enjoy the savings.

i like this brew when out on a hot ass summer day. its refreshing, buzz inducing, and thirst quenching. I notice that most of the Dark brew supporters live in cooler enviroments where that kind of beer is best suited. When i drink dark beers in the tropical heat like offshore fighing, i get sick very fast and also need to drink alot of water along with it. This landshark is a fine choice if your out in the summer heat and wanna throw a few back. however if your in a pub/dinner environment its probably not the best choice.

IF YOU ALL UNDERSTAND WHAT GOOD BEER WAS THEN YOU WOULD KNOW.

LANDSHARK LAGER TASTE JUST LIKE BUDWEISER.

GOOD BEER SHOULD BE MADE WITH ONLY 4 INGREDIENTS MALTED BARLEY,HOPS,YEAST,AND WATER.

BUDWEISER ADDS RICE SYRUP OR SOMTHING SIMILAR.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO LOVE LANDSHARK LAGER YOU PROB. ARE SHIT BEER DRINKERS BY NATURE.

CORONA IS 50 MILLION TIMES BETTER THAN LANDSHARK LAGER.

LANDSHARD LAGER AT MY BEER STORE IS 8.65 A SIX PACK??????!?!?!?!?

I DONT GET THESE PRICES WHEN LANDSHARK TASTE JUST LIKE BUDWEISER WHICH I CAN GET FOR 5.35 A SIX PACK.

FUCK YOU ANHEISUR-BUSCH= ALL OF YOUR BEERS EXCEPT MICHELOB AMBER BOCK ARE NASTY.

MOST AMERICAN MADE BEER SUCKS ASS PEOPLE WAKE UP AND TRY SOMTING GOOD.

IF U LIKE AMERICAN BIG BREWERY BEER THEN U PROB DONT LIKE THE TASTE OF HOPS.

CAUSE MILLER BUD AND COORS HAVE A POOP ASS TO LITTLE OR NO HOP TASTE

summer perfect
by: James West

I have to say that I have been a life-long Bud Man. Last year i wanted something different, somthing refreshing. I saw LAND SHARK at the local beer stop. I can say this as a devout Bud drinker that the Shark is my official summer time beer. It's very crisp and smooth. I have heard the critics who say Buffett shouldn't have put his name/stamp on this beer. I say right on J.B. ! it is the beer that does what it is intended to do..Hep You enjoy the summertime and the Margaritaville life style.

My NEW Brew!
by: Loudasthunder

. . .found this beer in South Padre Island, TX. Loved it! Drank it for the whole month of February, before returning to Michigan. Thankfully they had it up here. They seem to be marketing it by limiting its availability and sizes (6s & 12s, no cases). I especially like the smoooooooth finish on this beer! HELP MICHIGAN's ECONOMY: VACATION IN MICHIGAN!

WOW - Great Event
Local Distributor had VIP event at the Buffet Concert in Frisco (Dallas Area) It was off the hook i tell u. Rivals a some what tammer NASCAR race.
Since i was not a VIP - they escorted, very nicely i might add, out of the area but not until i chugged down a nice cold refreshing Land Shark!
The beer was very good and it was every where.
So cheers to Jace, Phillip and the Ben E. Keith boys for a great beer and time.

overwhelming disagreement
by: Anonymous

I stand along the many who have disagreed with your abismal assessment of this lager. I appreciate the remarkable smoothness this beer provides as well as the durability of taste as the cold wears off (for you slow drinkers). I would never choose the Miller Lite over this product as I was a major consumer of the "lite" brew before and have replaced it with the "Fins". I suspect your tastebuds have lost their sensitivity to taste in consuming the many other brews that tastewise compare to horse-****.

land shark lands on its feet
by: joepad

I found Land Shark beer in New Jersey and I live near the shore. Found it to be an excellent brew, rich, with no after taste.I don't agree with the reviewer on this one. He said he would prefer a Miller Lite or Re Stripe over Land Shark.Rubbish. Land Shark is superior to either beer. Give it a try if you can find it. You won't be disappointed.
