Leaderboard Lager and Ram's Head
IPA review

Scott Maitland, proprietor of
But when he realized that he couldn't get anything but domestic swill on the back nine, he took matters into his own hands.
It seems there's a law that beer may
only be served in cans
on the golf course, which meant Maitland couldn't get a decent
microbrew or
import beer, because they are served in glass bottles.
Fortunately for Maitland, he's in the
business of making
beer. So the crafty bugger decided to can beer from his own
brewery for consumption on the course. Ah, it's good to be king ain't
it?
Two beers from the brewery's taps are now
available in cans:
Leaderboard Lager
and Ram's Head IPA
(also known as Davie
Poplar IPA at the
brewpub).
They are sold locally for a modest
fee ($6.99) and taste as
fresh as
daisies!
But like most fresh beer, sometimes it can be a crap shoot. I've had some pretty tasty sixers and I've had some skunky ones. But you take what you can get when it comes to getting canned, eh?
I'm partial to the malty IPA, but I have a friend who swears by the Leaderboard Lager. Then again, golfers are a superstitious bunch.
