Miller Chill
It's a beer... It's a Limeade... It's a beer! It's a LIMEADE!
So the taste great less filling wars have officially been replaced. In my mind anyway. The clever folks at Miller brewing have a new offering called... wait for it... wait... Miller Chill.
I suppose it is supposed to evoke images of cool crisp mountain air. No wait, that's Coors. Um, well, how about the uber cool beer, the "hip" beer. No wait, that's Bud Light. Hmmm, well, perhaps they're just going for "laid back" beer. Yes, yes, that's it!
Miller Chill comes in a green bottle, which totally screws with your recycling unless you have a Heinekin habit.
The label is a nice touch. It combines some old world charm with modern day metallic flash.
It's a bit like a cross between a beer label and a tortilla chip label. The word Chelada (as in "Chelada Style") makes me hungry.
It is perilously close to a favorite of mine, ENCHILADAs. Having not studied Spanish, I remain in the dark.
The "ingredient" list is covered and all we are left knowing is "no additives or preservatives." So drink quickly!
Now what of this flavor? As the bottle kindly points out, it is "inspired" by a Mexican recipe with lime and salt.
All I can say to that is, my running is inspired by FloJo (Florence Joyner - amazing athlete), but no one will confuse me for FloJo, ever. And really that's kind of my point here. You won't think that you have a lime in your beer, but the lime and salt flavor is acceptable if a little pronounced.
To speak in wine terms, the opening is striking with a nose of lime and short bitter taste, but the finish is Miller. It's certainly tastier than a regular MGD or Miller Light, but you'd fight off scurvy better by taking an MGD and adding your own lime.
I'll call this the "convenience food" for those who want limes in their beer but are too lazy to buy both limes AND beer. Or those with eight items already in their cart who have to choose one or the other to use the nine items or less lane. You know who you are.
I have no problem drinking this beer on a hot Texas day or night. But this beer is like a pair of White Shoes. After Labor Day, it is time to put it away until Spring.
Pictures to add: kate and flojo, the beer, enchiladas, man with scurvy, grocery checkout line, white shoes. (How much space do you think we have? Ed.)

Miller, you've done it again with Miller Chill beer.
While I was waiting for a plane at the Mount Isa airport, I decided I would have a couple of beers. I peered over the counter and looked in their fridge to find the normal selection, until one caught my eye. It was a green bottle with the word CHILL on the label. I have never seen this before and felt the desire to try a new beer.
Upon reading the label, I was a bit leery to find that this was Miller's rendention of a Chelada still beer (What most people know as a Corona with lime). The label told me it had lime and salt in it.
The first sip was a bit of a shock to my taste buds. However, after the 2nd or 3rd it turned dangerously smooth. The lime and salt (and you surely can taste the these flavours) masked all aftertones.
I predict myself drinking a whole six-pack of this beer before I even would know it. I recommend this beer to any light mexican beer lover.

Miller Chill beer: maybe not the best beer in the world? Maybe just good for a social tippple

Miller Chill is a relatively new product (a year or so). I enjoy its light lime flavor on a warm summer day and it goes nicely with spicy latin food. Some may say that is a bit bland or make the comparison to a Zima.
I'm not suggesting Miller Chill is the best beer in the world -- I'm simply saying that we should appreciate Chill for what it is, a light social beer to have with friends.
