Monarch White beer from Two Brothers Brewing: not a white beer contender
Monarch White beer
Two Brothers Brewing, Chicago, IL, USA
Ready or not... spring is here... BANG! It's gone again. Now the blistering heat of summer and the reality of global warming is beating down the back of our necks again. Before you know it, Fall will be descending upon us. Depressing how quickly time passes.
Speaking of time passing, Two Brothers have introduced an anniversary edition brew called Monarch White. Much as it pains me to be negative on beer in general, I think Two Brothers struck out with this one. The honeymoon's over.
It pours with a crisp clean golden color, a mild head more like their Prairie Path Golden Ale.
The flavor is decent, but not a white beer contender in my opinion. It pales, or rather doesn't, in comparison of other fine white beers and Weiss beers out there. It's darker and more golden than any other white beer I've seen and unusually clear.
Crisp, yes. Mildly refreshing, it answered more like The Simpsons' Ralph Wiggum with his finger in his nose, talking about the leprechaun that tells him to burn things.
I paid $9.29 for this six pack at the only liquor store in my area that carried it. I won't again.
