Murray's Nirvana Pale Ale
Murray’s Craft Brewing Co.
As a fairly new arrival in New South Wales I continue my quest of sampling local brews with an offering from a small brewery I recently heard of, Murray’s Craft Brewing Co. They intrigued me as their beers are bottle conditioned and as such have a fine layer of yeast settled at the bottom of the bottle – that surely means it’s a good beer?
I’ve gone for the Nirvana Pale Ale and the beer is brilliantly golden in colour, the aroma is spicy with a hint of citrus. It’s not your conventional pale ale, it’s biscuity and sweet yet bitter and almost peppery, the flavours play with your tongue.
I can imagine drinking this with a good curry or some spicy Thai. The bits of yeast floating around may look disconcerting but it makes me feel this beer has been cared for, like a pet or something. However, is this a pet I can adopt, take in as my own?
I’m not sure. It’s nice, and I like it, similar to how I would like a pet snake. It’s exotic and unusual but not something you want for more than a day. I’d drink it again, but next time I’m in the liquor store I’m looking for the Labrador of the beer world.
