We know that a New York beer guide could spend an entire lifetime without leaving the Big Apple and still never complete his job.

Rudy Lasher clearly drinks beer to drown his sorrows. He's pug-ugly and no girl would go within yards-- Oh, wait...

...and Chris St. Mary is a serious beer fan and carries several cards to prove it (including a UNOB one now!).
First up for the impossible mission is the deeply unpopular and unappealing Rudy Lasher.
We're betting he had to hire those girls to pose in that photo.
Nobody so hideous and slimy would be able to attract friends of such fine calibre, obviously.
Either that, or Rudy's actually as charming, erudite and well-versed in beer as he claims!
Which would be deeply unfair, I'm sure you'd agree. But will help the New York beer guide no end. So we'll let him off.
You'd be hard-pressed to find a more serious beer fan, but we've done just that. Chris St. Mary not only seeks out beers to sample on his travels, he collects breweriana and has run a homebrew club!
He's way up near Buffalo, so he's going to provide a completely different perspective on the New York beer guide, especially as he can nip across the border and sample brews from all across the northeast and into Canada, even!
We're delighted to have Rudy and Chris with us. Read on for their application speeches.
Since age five, I grew up in a bar-restaurant
in northwest PA. My first taste of beer, a Pittsburgh
favorite called Iron City,
almost made me throw up at age seven.
From then, I wanted to find why people liked beer. Then came Penn State and between studying Hotel, restaurant and Institutional Management and being in a fraternity, I learned a lot about beer.
Now, I have moved on to Brooklyn, New York where I will soon be a Food and beverage director in Manhattan. With a more refined taste, I have enjoyed the New York bars, breweries and festivals and some of the best beers from all over the world.
I would be honored to be designated a Delegate on the New York beer guide because beer is my passion. I used to sell beer, I am a past president of a local homebrew club, I seek out beer and brewerianna any time I travel and I have organized a beer festival and a beer and food pairing dinner.
I live in the
To quote Ben Franklin, "Beer is proof that God loves us
and wants us to be happy." Cheers!
