Ommegang Brewery, Cooperstown, NY, USA: a beer Hall of Fame in the making
Ommegang Brewery
Cooperstown, NY, USA
Cooperstown, NY, the home of the Hall of Fame. The humble town where heroes and immortals are remembered forever has another landmark. A place just as hallowed. One that, in time, will be just as remembered.
This is a beer birthplace, where magic takes place while the master brewer lives as though "brewing is an art and partaking is a passion."
Ten minutes down County Highway 33, just south of Cooperstown, NY, lies a little secret. Hidden away in an old hops farm is "America’s most unique microbrewery." This 136-acre plot of land has been molded into a true Belgian experience.
From the architecture, to the beer itself, the heart of Belgian culture is captured, its essence bottled and its perfection tasted in each of their five top-fermented, bottle-conditioned brews.
This is a place where the Belgium style beers are cellared like wines and aged to perfection. Randy Thiel is the brewmaster of the unforgettable experience known as Brewery Ommegang.
