Once Upon a Vine, there was a beer and liquor retailer...
Once Upon a Vine
Located in an urban residential area, OUAV was the first beer-store (though they have a wine-based name and offer a huge wine selection) that I visited once I was hooked into the craft beer scene.
They have an extensive supply of most beer types, including a tall, wooden case displaying 22oz and 750ml Belgian styles. A large set of shelves containing warm bombers is next to the register, sure to entice you into buying more as you check out.
Also a whole wall of cold beers, separated by styles (nice touch) and one fridge dedicated to cold bombers and canned beers.
The prices here are pretty much in line with other stores around town, though you can find some bargains if you visit frequently.
The other 2/3 of the store is dedicated to wines and gourmet foods, of which all that I have tried have been good (Guinness marbled cheese!). Local produce and breads are sold here as well, adding to the neighborhood feel of the place.
The staff is extremely helpful, always quick to point out new arrivals and rare finds. Bob and his son Robbie are usually there to help out and the new guy (I forget his name) has turned into a beer geek as well, suggesting some nice pickups on my last visit to the store.
Overall, OUAV is a great place to wander around the beer aisles aimlessly, and they are adept at separating me from my $$.
