New Glarus Organic Revolution: unlikely to light a fire under non-organic fans
![]() |
While having a few friends over to watch some of the NCAA tournament, a good friend of mine brought over a mixed sixer of some area brews. Some of the brews I have had in the past others I had not. In the category of 'not had' was an offering from the New Glarus Brewing Company of New Glarus, WI. The particular beer that was brought over was their Organic Revolution. I was very intrigued, since I have had several good beers from New Glarus in the past and to have an organic option really made me excited to sample this beer.
I popped the top on this 12oz bottle and poured it into one of my trusty pint glasses and was prepared to give this beer a shot. I poured the beer in to see a beautiful amber color with a bit of haze which actually made me excited to see this was an unfiltered beer. The head was small and quickly dissipated only leaving a small lace on the glass.
As I raised the glass to my nose I was amazed to find what is pretty much a lack of aroma. Nothing in particular hit the hose, even after a few good short inhalations. Not a big deal I figured, this beer will be a nice good clean beer.
I moved in to take the first sip and found that the flavor and the aroma are very similar which is to say there is not much to this beer that makes it stand out. There was a bit of slightly earthy flavor from hops, but overall the flavor was rather bland and nondescript. There was a slight sweetness to the beer, and its overall body was nice.
In conclusion, I would not recommend this beer to anyone, but then again I would never say not to buy it to someone unless I knew their particular beer preferences.
