Two Otter Creek beers

During the recent Vermont Brewers
Festival, every stand was like another candy store for we two
spoiled kiddies to stuff our faces in. Unfortunately we were limited to
two samples per stand, which meant making some difficult choices.
While I love a good IPA, there were so many at the festival that it would have been foolish not to go off-piste and try some other styles. Mattias was smarter than me about this and probably chose the widest selection possible given our limitations.
That said, he DID seem to have a hankering for Maibock. Otter Creek Maibock was about the third of these summer seasonals that he tried.
Mattias' opinion was pretty positive, as you'll see if you play the video.
He found a purple patch of poetic prose, saying "It simply caresses your throat."
Which is pretty damn impressive, given that we'd been hammering back the brews for several hours by this stage!
I got accosted by a young lady at the bar who insisted that I try Otteroo.
This beer was part of Otter Creek's special 'World Tour' series, offering beers of different styles apparently famous for being brewed in world locations.
Perhaps Otteroo is typical of Australian beers. However, I found it more like what North American brewers call "Scotch" ale, a syrupy sweet dark brown concoction. Mine did not so much caress the throat as make me long for another IPA to get the sweet caramel taste out of my mouth.
Otter Creek beers have a great reputation in Vermont and we'll be adding other reviews of their stuff in due course.

"Where does he get all those wonderful toys?"
