Ozona, Texas, USA: no "pretty people" magnet
Dallas, TX, USA
Yeah, well, Ozona Bar and Grill is okay and it's covered with cuties - but I've decided the undergrad men are a bit too young. At least for the time being. Grrrowl!
Thursdays are all night $1 domestic draft and $2 imports. With such lovely imports as Widmar, Franzikaner Hefeweizen, Guinness and more, you can hardly go wrong with the $2 imports. However... they may be thinning the beers a bit. Just so you know.
Really what is the ambiance of a cross-over bar, a bar defined by the nearby college and young professionals? Well, in Dallas I judge a bar based on how many $30K millionaires are circulating. Ozona is just not that kind of bar.
It's a, "Hey we know you'd rather be at (insert cool bar here), but you're not, so sit back, eat some decent grub and no one gets hurt" kind of bar. The food is acceptable.
The beer choices look great, but in reality are acceptable.
Will it become a regular hangout? No. Well, may if this next client deal falls apart and all I can swing is a $2 beer, but I'd rather work at Mickey D's a few hours a week to build up my drinking coffers instead.
This is a bar for softball teams to come to before and after play. Casual, not at all chic, yet justifies having a valet. Most people walk from half a mile away. You will not see the "pretty people" here, but it is a decent "good people" crowd. Go with your homeys, but don't expect intelligent conversation.
Signing out. Hugs and drinks, Kate
