Paradise Crisp Golden Ale
Crested Butte Brewery, Crested Butte, CO
For the big keg we decided to go with the Crested Butte Brewery's Paradise Crisp Golden Ale. We were told it was their version of Coors Light. We were told wrong.
Described as their "lighter" beer, it was still a pretty heavy micro. Billed as "crisp, dry and refreshing", I had trouble drinking it after three hours.
Now granted, maybe they weren’t thinking about people getting up at 8.30am, cooking eggs and proceeding to try to drink it for the next 15 hours when they gave that description, but it wasn’t so crisp by three in the afternoon.
It’s not IPA hoppy, but it sure had more of a bite than I expected from their lighter option. Nonetheless, it provided the fuel we needed to sit around and watch other people play sports.
I'm sad I didn't get to try Crested Butte Brewery's third option, the White Buffalo Peace Ale, since I enjoy all three: pale ales, albino buffaloes AND peace. The word on the website is that "The sweet malty flavor is well balanced with a light addition of American hops." Just another excuse to go back to Crested Butte Brewery!
