The Pearl Street Grill and Brewery is located in downtown Buffalo, NY. The four storey building, each with its own terrace overlooking the Lake Ontario, ranges from casual dining to playing pool, to sitting at the outdoor bar and sipping a few brews.
My choice... the outside bar. Although a bit noisy and filled with college aged kids (I'm not), the bar staff was friendly and helpful. I like to have samples when I frequent new places and the tender here made one up, complete with a hand-written list of which beer was which... ten in all for under ten bucks.
The flight ranged from a local Blueberry concoction (not my favorite) to a Double IPA... highly recommended. My complete flight included:
Double IPA: not as bitter as you would expect (my favorite)
Octoberfest: yes, it's that time of year. True to type.
Summer Lager: typical lager
Cherry Wheat: Served with a cherry... licorice taste, almost too sweet
Blueberry something or other
Wild Ox Wheat: nice wheat beer with a heavy wheat taste on the finish
Trainwreck: the signature beer. Slightly hoppy, similar to an APA
Lake Effect: a little heavier than Trainwreck... close to an IPA
Stout: great beer
Lighthouse: a bit too light for me but an all around good beer.
If you're ever in the Buffalo area, you should definetly try this one out before leaving.
