Pennichuck RyePA review

Let's
pretend you had never heard of Pennichuck. Now drink 20 beer samples on
a scorching hot summer's day
and then glance over your shoulder at their silly cursive-font banner.
Still with me? Okay! Tell me you couldn't confuse the name like I did...
I admit that I've always been a bit shy when it comes to research. But the camera was rolling and I was under pressure to get the review shot.
My bad.
Now that we know definitively that it's Pennichuck RyePA, what is the beer actually like?
Quite nice as it happens! A decent, crisp, hoppy IPA with plenty of lingering bitterness, just in case you're happy with your life just the way it is and want to be reminded of the darker side of existence.
But what of the rye?
Having almost gagged on a sandwich made with allegedly the best rye bread in London some years ago, I can safely attest that I am not the world's greatest fan of the stuff.
But is this a gimmick I see before me? The Lady MacBeth of beer naming strikes again. For my money, RyePA is a clever nickname and perhaps they justified it with a token quantity of rye.
But it's just another IPA from where I'm standing. A good one, mind.
