Pints Pub Lancer IPA: hoppy!
Pints Pub Lancer IPA
Pints Pub, Denver, CO, USA
Next up was the Lancer IPA. It was served at room temperature, which combined with the reduced carbonation, made it less bitter than you would expect a micro IPA to be. I was woefully ignorant about why IPAs had so much hoppy goodness to them and I had the pleasure of getting a history lesson along with this pint.
The word on the street (in this case "the street" being my knowledgeable friend Tom) is that in the dark, dark days before refrigerated shipping, England had to find a way to get ale down to its thirsty soldiers in India without it going bad.
The solution? Hops and lots of 'em! While this explains the birth of the IPA, I’m still waiting for an explanation from the English government for the creation and export of Simon Cowell.
