Playroom bar, Fortuna, CA: not the greatest bar in the world, but there's only two in town

The Playroom is... well... not the best bar in the world. But we only have two bars and a brewery, and the brewery is not open until 2am. But, the Playroom does have its perks.

For one thing, it is four blocks away from my home, which makes it safe for me; for I do not like drinking and driving (neither should any of you!!). It also has a pretty good selection of brew.

There is also an open jam session every Thursday night, where anyone who can play even the littlest of an instrument can get up and get their fifteen minutes. Plus, on the weekends there are live bands, some of them a little boring, some of them kinda upbeat, some that get the crowd going.

It is not always packed to the hilt, which is boring for some, but I kinda like it because I can get on at least one of the two pool tables quite a bit (but I usually do not lose until I am pretty fersnickered, so if anybody wants a real challenge come early).

Beer on offer includes:

Eel river organic amber

Eel river IPA

Blue Moon Beer

plus all the original draft beer types, from Oly to Budweiser and MGD.

So, when in the lonesome town of Fortuna, stop in at The Playroom bar after having a few tasty brews at the brewery and enjoy some live entertainment and some more tasty suds. After all, seeing me there is more than half the fun.

I VISIT FORTUNA AND RIO DELL TWICE A YEAR AND BEING A MUSICIAN THAT PLAYS BLUES HARMONICA AND VOCALS FROM SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA I LOOK FOR JAMZ. I WILL BE UP THERE IN APRIL 2010. I WILL BE LOOKING FOR SOME JAMZ. I WILL ALSO BE LOOKING WHERE ST. JOHN AND THE SINNERS WILL BE PLAYING. I HOPE THAT THERE WILL BE A JAM AT THE PLAYROOM BAR WHEN I VISIT THIS APRIL

Kurt Obers article pretty much says it all, BUT....i dont know about seeing him there is half the fun.LOL..Actually when im not workin(@ the playroom)seeing my brother Obe there is half my fun.Hmmm,whats that tell ya. I don't think they are going to have jams on Thurs.nights anymore. I think thats a bummer cuz while theres plenty of places to karaoke,theres hardly no open jams anymore. ddemarzi
