Red Lady Ale
Crested Butte Brewery, Crested Butte, CO
I was able to sneak a taste of the Crested Butte Brewery's flagship, Red Lady Ale (named either for the Red Lady Bowl atop Mount Crested Butte, or the town hooker, depending on who you ask).
It had hints of nuts, caramel and chocolate, but what come across most strongly were the floral tones.
It was like getting smacked in the face with a wedding bouquet.
The official description attributes the floral tone to "dry hopping" with Hallertauer strains. Either way it was delicious, but so thick that despite Craig’s best efforts, some had to be poured out onto the snow before we left.
To his credit, he only shed a single tear.
