Redhook Brewing Tripel Belgian Style Ale
Red Hook Brewing
I have recently started a phase of drinking Belgians and Belgian Style Ales. In my imbibing of these precocious, flavorful and ever different beers, I have come across many that are both satisfying and quite sippable.
The first of these beers is brewed by Redhook Brewing and is just called Tripel Belgian Style Ale. Weighing in at a whopping 10.2% ABV, this ale was definitely a sipper. Continues below
It has a sweet, light hoppy aroma and slight fruit overtones. Cinnamon and clove or nutmeg aromas appear as the beer is consumed, a characteristic of Belgians that I love so much. It has a clear golden color with no haze or cloudiness and an opaque foamy head which sheets the glass but dissipates quickly.
There is a smooth, sweet, yeasty, fruity flavor which coats the palate and lingers for a few seconds and then gives way to slight malty flavors as the beer warms in your mouth.
The other thing I love about Belgians is the refreshing carbonation that tickles the tongue and the back of the throat as it goes down. This beer definitely had that aspect covered.
When it comes to this style of beer, it's like beauty in a bottle. This beer is both sweet and spicy, refreshing but complex and a pleasure to drink. Thank you Redhook for such a great beer.
