I was very intrigued by this beer, more of a dessert type beer than I am used to drinking, but if you like pralines, you'll love this beer.

It has a very sweet hazelnut aroma which pairs well with the mild scents of the roasted malts used in the brewing of the beer. The milder roasted malt and coffee aromas apparent as the beer warms, but the hazelnut aroma is always present. Continues below
The appearance of the beer is a dark brown color with slight amber hues. Thick foamy brown head which dissipates quickly and laces the glass as the beer is consumed.

Moderately carbonated which gives it a little bubbliness. As mentioned, the flavor is a rich, sweet hazelnut taste with mild roasted malt flavors at the finish. Sweet caramel overtones in the flavor as the beer is consumed. There is a mild carbonated and refreshing texture which coats the palate with a sweet film.

Light and refreshing with a mild body and creaminess. This is an excellent beer for serving with dessert, nice body, flavor and texture. I could definitely drink this beer again.

We Love This Beer!
by: Kathi

My husband and I were introduced to this beer when eating at a Boise steakhouse (Cool Hand Luke's). We almost exclusively drink microbrews on tap wherever we go. The great thing about living out West (we're originally from the East coast) is that you can find microbrews virtually everywhere.

However, the selection at Cool Hand Luke's leaves a lot to be desired. So our waitress suggested the Rogue Hazelnut Brown Ale to us one night. We were leery of ordering a bottled beer, but decided to go for it.

Are we glad we did! We absolutely love this beer. And we drink it with dinner, not dessert. :)

It has a rich, flavorful taste with no bitterness whatsoever. Can you say smooth?

We'd heard that another downtown establishment served it on tap, but alas when we went there a week or two ago, they no longer had it as one of their selections. We're looking forward to the day when we can try it that way, as we much prefer a beer on tap to bottled.

If you like ambers or darks with no bitterness/hopiness, I highly recommend you try this beer!
