Roman's Pub, Milwaukee

Nestled in the far southern reaches of the Bay View neighborhood of Milwaukee is Roman's Pub. This bar is one that could easily missed as you drive down KK Ave but is a must stop for any beer aficionado.

Roman's has ~30 beers on tap at all times including one on the hand-pulled beer engine. Owner Mike Roman does a great job of keeping the taps varied, with great selections from across the US and Europe.

Mike keeps some of the biggest names in American Microbrewing on tap with the likes of Dogfish Head, Flying Dog, Great Lakes Brewing, Bell's and Victory to name a few.

Roman's Pub also has one of the finest selections of Belgians anywhere in Milwaukee. With the likes of Gulden, Rodenbach's and Delirium Tremens on tap you are not likely to walk away disappointed.

As another nice side note, Mike always makes sure that he has the proper glassware from the brewery to serve its beer from. If your favorite Belgian is supposed to be served in a Tulip glass, it will be poured in the tulip with the brewery logo on it.

The bar room itself is a nice cozy space with many bar stools slung around the bar and three booths against the far wall. At the back of the main bar room there are also several round tables for small groups to enjoy a great beer discussion with others.

The rooms are filled with beer paraphernalia everywhere, from new signs to some great old advertising from some of Milwaukee's old and defunct breweries. My personal favorite is when I saw the old Gettleman's Beer sign hanging on the wall behind the first booth.

If the inside is not for you, you could always step out onto the back deck that is open as weather is provided. The deck is located in the fenced in lot of Roman's Pub, which is has several nice trees on it to help provide some shade.

If you are into cigars, Romans also has humidor with a selection of ~16 different cigars. Some of the names include Acid, Macanudo, Gurkha and Baccarat. If you aren't into cigars, don't worry, the ventilation system in Roman's Pub does a fine job of filtering out the smoke.
