Saranac Black Forest beer has NOTHING to do with cherries. Hooray!

Saranac Black Forest ale (5.3% ABV)
Saranac Brewing, NY, USA
Thankfully, this beer is not in any way affiliated with CHERRIES. This is great news for people who, like me, were nauseated when they tried Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat, which is just about the worst 'beer' I've ever had. Ever ever.
So that's the good news. The bad news is, I bought a mixer case of Saranac beers and gave half of them away to Mattias Dahlstrom of VT Beer Delegate fame, leaving me with just one of each to drink. And that sadly means I only had one bottle of this delicious dark lager-style ale to try.
Black Forest is sweetish, but it's well-balanced, like all of the Saranac beers I've tried to date. It's clean, refreshing and at 5.3% ABV, not at all lightweight.
I can strongly recommend this beer. Check out the entire series at Saranac.com.
