Shiner Bock is one of the very few drinkable beers you can buy in the states.

My qualification? British. Nuff said.

Spoetzl brewing

My wife is from The Greatest State In The Union(Rockport to be specific) and turned me on to Shiner while there on vacation. Everything I tried from Spoetzl was exceptional and left me wondering why everybody thinks that crappy ass tasting lonestar is THE Texas beer. The Bock, Blonde, Dark lager could NOT be beat for taste, smoothness and refreshment(we were there in August and July fer goshsakes!)

Absolutely delicious

I had my first taste of good beer years ago overseas. It spoiled me as to any other. The good beer I tasted was absolutely delicious and it had a sort of "bread" feel to it..

Now that I am stateside and don't care for local beers, I make my own. Most of the mixes are ales, light and airy (My husband loves them, but they are nothing like the Shinerboc Black (dark)...Can I buy a Shinerboc "mix" that will be dark and heavy like I enjoy so much?

It is what it is

I dont know how you can say Shiner Bock specifically gives you a headache. Maybe you are allergic to one of its ingredients.

I started drinking the beer about a year ago and really enjoy it for what it is. It is a beer that is readily available and tastes great to me. It finishes nice, doesn't have to much bite, and only leaves me with a headache if I were to drink 15 of them.

It seems as though your judgement was based on a comparison to microbrews (or in this case champagne!).

First real Beer for me.

I have had numerous 'favorite beers' but my most favorite beer ever is "SHINER BOC" from Shiner Texas. My first taste was in 1964 at the brewery and I could not get enough then and I still buy it when available. My friend worked for a Shiner distrutor and he took me to this great, huge cookout at the brewery as a tribute to all of the employees. The only other beer that comes close is Yuenling, brewed in Pottsville, PA, the oldest brewery in USA.
I am retired military and thank goodness the class VI stores usually have it.
My son still lives in Houston and had a large keg of Shiner boc at the last race party (NASCAR) last year and it was just as good then as it was in 1964.
I am 72 and I thank you for a lot of good beer in my life time,

This review was complete bullshit- why is this crap on here? A Girl complaining about getting allergies from drinking a shiner?

WHAT THE FUCK!

Shiner beers are the only beers worthy of being a TEXAS ICON.

Ladies and Gentlemen- the only thing this review should have said was....

"Nothing is Finer, than an Ice Cold Shiner"
